Clenbuterol is one of the most common fat loss agents in existence, and almost every bodybuilder has used clenbuterol atleast once in their life. While it is not an anabolic steroid, it is actually used as a bronchodilator for the treatment to asthma. But it is a stimulant and this leads to it’s popularity for use in non bodybuilders as well for weight loss. Clenbuterol works by affecting the fat tissue or adipose tissue. Clenbuterol is a beta 2 receptor angonist and when clenbuterol stimulates it then lipolysis, the break down of fat into free fatty acids, starts. Where as other stimulants like caffeine or others do not target the beta 2 andrenoreceptors. Ephedrine for example can stimulate multiple beta and alpha receptors rather then stimulating just the beta 2.

Most bodybuilders build up their dose of Clenbuterol over time and then slowly shut it down to make sure they do not downregulate their beta 2 receptors. Typically two weeks on, two weeks off. For fat loss it is reported that people build up to 120 to 160 mcg a day where as females take 80 to 100 mcg a day.
